Keep your own black book, and keep it locked
The name comes from an old habit: a small book of names and numbers, kept in an inside pocket and shown to nobody. The habit is worth keeping. The inside pocket has been replaced by a phone that backs itself up to places you've forgotten about.

Conversation is the paid part: reading messages and replying need a membership, as do extras such as seeing who has viewed you and opening photos in full. The members area shows the exact price and currency of each plan before you pay.
Every membership, including any introductory trial, renews automatically until you cancel it in Settings > Billing. Put the renewal date in your diary on the day you buy. The prices page lists the plans and the optional extras.

Yes, you'll see faces from partner sites
Black Book of Sex shares one member database with partner sites in the same network. Their members can see your profile and message you, you can see and message theirs, and each profile shows the site its owner joined through. That's how the network works, and it's better to know before you write a word.

What your phone, inbox and statement will show
Three places give casual dating away more often than anything else. Your card statement: the members area shows the billing name at checkout, so read it before you pay and expect to see it again at every renewal. Your inbox: a separate email address used only for dating keeps account emails out of your main one. Your lock screen: turn off message previews in your phone's notification settings, so nothing appears in full over someone's shoulder.
None of this is about deceiving anybody. It's ordinary discretion, the kind you'd expect for a medical letter or a bank balance.

Keep chat in the members area until you've met, and meet the first time somewhere public and busy: a hotel bar, a city-centre pub, a café that stays open late.
